Big Buddha Hong Kong Entrance Fee

Visiting the Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha) on Lantau Island is free of charge. You do not need to pay an entrance fee to see the statue itself or climb the 268 steps to the top[1][2][3]. However, if you wish to enter the three halls beneath the statue—the Hall of the Universe, Hall of Benevolent Merit, and Hall of Remembrance—there is a small fee[2][5]. This fee is typically around the equivalent of US$5 and often includes a vegetarian snack at the monastery below[2]. Access to Po Lin Monastery is also free.

The most popular way to reach the Big Buddha is via the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, which requires a separate ticket. As of April 2025, prices for the cable car are as follows:

  • Standard cabin: HK$195 one-way, HK$270 round-trip
  • Crystal (glass-bottom) cabin: HK$235 one-way, HK$350 round-trip
  • Crystal+ cabin (glass floors, walls, and ceiling): HK$395 one-way, HK$520 round-trip
  • Discounted rates apply for children

Alternative routes include public buses and taxis from Tung Chung, as well as ferries from Central to Mui Wo followed by a bus to Ngong Ping. These options can be significantly cheaper but take longer[1][2][3].
